This 2019 movie is funny yet poignant. Taking place during WWII in Germany the story centers around a young German boy named JoJo who is in the HItler Youth and whom Adolf Hitler is his imaginary friend. Throughout the movie his blind nationalism slowly comes into conflict with what he is experiencing and seeing around him. This movie has a great cast featuring: Scarlett Johansson, Sam Rockwell, Stephen Merchant, and Rebel Wilson. It was written and directed by Taika Waititi who brought the very creative Thor Ragnarok to life. This movie won Waititi an Oscar for Best Writing Adapted Screenplay at the 2020 Academy Awards. THis film blends comedy and the serious perfectly into a movie that will help shine a light on the absurdity of believing one ethnicity is better than another.
