Great book about love and friendship

The Giver of Stars By JoJo Moyes This book has been rated top 100 books to read while stuck at home social distancing, by USA Today. It is a story that takes place in the depression-era America, in the mountains of Kentucky.  Alice Wright marries a handsome American, Bennett Van Cleve, in hopes to escape her small claustrophobic life in England.  But she quickly finds out life is not how she imagined it to be while having to live with her very overbearing father in law.  Life is equally as miserable in America for Alice as it was in England if not more so.   When a call for a team of women to work comes from Eleanor Roosevelt’s new traveling library, Alice jumps on the chance to escape home life. The leader and soon to be close friend and ally is Margery.  She is a self-sufficient, smart-talking woman who doesn't need a man’s permission for anything.   Most of the town thinks she is odd, but she doesn’t care one bit what others think of her. What happens to these brave women, and the men in their lives is an unforgettable drama that you won't want to put down.  They face all kinds of dangers; from blizzards, to drunken men, yet they remain committed to their job of delivering books to people who have never had any books before.  The town grows in new knowledge and love for reading, despite many disapproving men who seek to shut them down.  This is based on true events and is such a great book. I give it 10 stars out of 10.  I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. HS
