Entertaining Read

Saving Cee Cee Honeycutt By Beth Hoffman Saving Cee Cee Honeycutt is a really interesting and entertaining read.  This book is all about growing up and the lessons we learn along the way.  Cee Cee is the daughter of a mentally ill woman, Camille.  Her father travels for his job and is rarely home, leaving Cee Cee to fend for herself and also take care of her mother.  Her mother is constantly humiliating her with her manic episodes where she would get all dressed up in prom attire and march down the street waving at people. Circumstances dramatically change and Cee Cee is uprooted from her difficult situation and finds herself in the privileged society of the upper crust of Savannah Georgia.   Cee Cee finds herself living with her great aunt Tootie who restores broken down historic homes, but also sees the potential of her great niece and longs to restore her wrecked soul as well.   The setting of Savannah Georgia, and the historical homes was a beautiful aspect of this book.  Another aspect I loved was the nuggets of wisdom that was passed on from some of the older women down to Cee Cee. An example of this is “ It’s what we believe about ourselves that determines how others see us.”     Once I started reading this book it was hard to put down.   HS
