When a Wolf is Hungry

By Christine Naumann-Vilemin

This is a book that is fantastic to read with your children. It features a wolf named Edmond Bigsnout, who found himself hankering for some rabbit one night. Yet not just any rabbit, he wanted one that was extra sweet; a city rabbit would hit the spot. In return, Edmond left his home, knife in paw, ready to find his next meal. To find what he was looking for he stopped in front of a large apartment building, and looked at the names on the doorbells. To his delight, he found what he was searching for, Max Omatose the miniature rabbit from the 5th floor. He was filled with joy, and as he stepped onto the elevator he set down his knife to adjust his tie; fashion is important during dinner after all. However, when he arrived on the 5th floor he left without his knife, which was then found by the turkey from the 3rd floor. “Oh, this is just what I needed to cut my cake she exclaimed! When Edmond retired to find his knife missing he rides his bike home to get his chainsaw. This pattern continues as he meets each neighbor, who needs to borrow the tool that he brings back with him. On his last trip, he brings a grill, but the neighboring wolf borrows it. He then decides to eat the rabbit raw. When he reaches the rabbitś apartment he discovers a sign that said “I’m on the roof, signed Max¨. So off Edmond heads to the roof. Yet when he gets there he finds that all the neighbors are having a barbeque. ¨Please join us our new neighbor¨, they exclaim, ¨Dont be shy we won’t eat you¨. And just like that Edmond becomes a vegetarian.
